Art nouveau jewelers just couldn’t get enough of the dragonfly. Admired for its grace and unique shape, the dragonfly offered jewelers of the age a wonderful chance to bring a winged creature to life. In the dragonfly’s long body and outstretched wings, jewelers found the perfect setting for valuable stones. And the veins and translucency of the dragonfly’s wings allowed jewelers to use an enameling technique that gave the finished pieces a stunning stained glass-like appearance.
