One of the most sought after and prized pearls is the Tahitian pearl, which are cultured by a black-lipped oyster in French Polynesia. Because of trace elements found in the water this oyster lives in, these so-called “peacock” pearls take on a dark gray-green color with a metallic overtone that appears to float on its surface.
